    Effective coupling between two Brownian particles

    We use the system-plus-reservoir approach to study the dynamics of a system composed of two independent Brownian particles. We present an extension of the well-known model of a bath of oscillators which is capable of inducing an effective coupling between the two particles depending on the choice made for the spectral function of the bath oscillators. The coupling is non-linear in the variables of interest and an exponential dependence on these variables is imposed in order to guarantee the translational invariance of the model if the two particles are not subject to any external potential. The effective equations of motion for the particles are obtained by the Laplace transform method and besides recovering all the local dynamical properties for each particle we end up with an effective interaction potential between them.     Majorana neutrino decay in an Effective Approach

    The search strategy or the finding of new effects for heavy neutrinos often relies on their different decay channels to detectable particles. In particular in this work we study the decay of a Majorana neutrino with interactions obtained from an effective general theory modeling new physics at the scale Λ\Lambda. The results obtained are general because they are based in an effective theory and not in specific models. We are interested in relatively light heavy Majorana neutrinos, with masses lower than the WW mass (mN<mWm_N<m_W). This mass range simplifies the study by reducing the possible decay modes. Moreover, we found that for Λ1\Lambda\sim 1 TeeV, the neutrino plus photon channel could give explanation to different observations: we analyze the potentiality of the studied interactions to explain some neutrino-related problems like the MiniBooNE and SHALON anomalies. We show in different figures the dominant branching ratios and the decay length of the Majorana neutrino in this approach. This kind of heavy neutral leptons could be searched for in the LHC with the use of displaced vertices techniques. \Comment: 15 page, 5 figure

    Gluon and Ghost Dynamics from Lattice QCD

    The two point gluon and ghost correlation functions and the three gluon vertex are investigated, in the Landau gauge, using lattice simulations. For the two point functions, we discuss the approach to the continuum limit looking at the dependence on the lattice spacing and volume. The analytical structure of the propagators is also investigated by computing the corresponding spectral functions using an implementation of the Tikhonov regularisation to solve the integral equation. For the three point function we report results when the momentum of one of the gluon lines is set to zero and discuss its implications.Comment: Proceedings of Light Cone 2016, held in Lisbon, September 2016.     The Elephant Quantum Walk

    We explore the impact of long-range memory on the properties of a family of quantum walks in a one-dimensional lattice and discrete time, which can be understood as the quantum version of the classical "Elephant Random Walk" non-Markovian process. This Elephant Quantum Walk is robustly superballistic with the standard deviation showing a constant exponent, σt3/2\sigma \propto t^{3/ 2} , whatever the quantum coin operator, on which the diffusion coefficient is dependent. On the one hand, this result indicates that contrarily to the classical case, the degree of superdiffusivity in quantum non- Markovian processes of this kind is mainly ruled by the extension of memory rather than other microscopic parameters that explicitly define the process. On the other hand, these parameters reflect on the diffusion coefficient.Comment: 4 figures, any comments is welcome. Accepted in PR
